The Dubbing Database

دامو ستحيل is the Arabic dub of Kim Possible. It has previously aired on Disney Channel, Dubai TV, MBC 3 and Jeem TV.

For its first three seasons, a Classical Arabic dub was produced with a Lebanese cast, in the studio Filmali. However, during its fourth season, there was a change of studio and country. The new studio, Video 2000 in Egypt, replaced the entire Lebanese cast with a new, completely Egyptian cast, and the dialect switched from Classical Arabic to Standard Arabic.

The series is currently available on the Disney+ service, with the Arabic dub, for the entire Middle East.

Trivia[]

Adaptation[]

Several character names were adapted. Here are the most important ones:

  • Kim Possible is Damu Staheel (an invented name, which, similarly to the original English name, is derived from the Arabic word for impossible, 'mustaheel').
  • Ron Stoppable is Mousta Edd (another invented name; the word 'moustaed', which means 'ready' in Arabic, divided into two).
  • Rufus is Faroon.
  • Wade is Awad.
  • Shego is Shahira (not to be confused with Shakira).

Dr. Drakken is one of the few characters whose name remains unchanged.

Censorship[]

  • Four episodes of the series were omitted in its original Arabic broadcast, and in subsequent broadcasts, on channels like MBC3 and Jeem TV, which were "All the News" (S01E15), "Monkey Ninjas In Space" (S01E19), "Bonding" (S03E03), and "Gorilla Fist" (S03E13). It was believed that these episodes had not been dubbed, but in 2022, a series of loose audios of the actors' recorded dialogues were leaked, proving that said episodes were dubbed, but weren't distributed.[7]
  • Additionally, there were a large number of scenes that were removed from television broadcasts (kisses on the mouth, suggestive or double meaning dialogues, insults, graphic violence, etc). However, these scenes have been managed to be found dubbed and uncensored through home video releases, most recent broadcasts on Disney Channel EMEA, given they do not censor content visually anymore, and on Disney+, with the release of the dub on said service revealing that the Lebanese cast and the Egyptian cast dubbed the entire series. Several of these deleted scenes have been uploaded by YouTube channel Nightosphere Prime.[8]
