ردپای آبی is the Persian dub of Blue's Clues. It has previously aired on IRIB TV2, premiering in 2001. It has also aired on IRIB Esfahan.

Censorship

Several changes were made to a number of scenes and episodes in order to comply with Iranian broadcasting regulations and to better reflect Islamic culture.

General edits

• Nearly every song has been cut, possibly due to controversy regarding whether music is considered haram or not in Islamic culture. This leads to some awkward jump-cuts, however, as a lot of these song sequences lead into other scenes.
  • Despite this, however, the We Are Looking for Blue's Clues and We Just Got a Letter songs are still kept in certain episodes, as is the opening chorus of the Mailtime song.
    • The So Long Song is also kept in the episode Blue's Sad Day.
• In addition to songs being cut, any instances where a musical instrument is shown on-screen have also been cut or censored. This is because Iran has a law preventing such instruments from being showcased on Iranian television.
• Most instances of Steve giving a thumbs up to the viewers were either censored or cut out completely, due to the gesture being deemed offensive in the Middle East.
  • An example of this can be seen in the episode What Time is it For Blue?. A shot of Steve giving the viewers a thumbs up near the start of the episode was censored with a close-up of Sidetable Drawer's face.
• For unknown reasons, most episodes cut out the scenes during the Mailtime segments where Steve interacts with Mailbox before receiving a letter, and cut straight to the part where Steve opens the letter. Oddly enough, other episodes leave the Mailtime segments mostly intact, aside from the songs.
• The end credits have been replaced with reused footage from the show's intro.

Episode-specific edits

• In the episode Mailbox's Birthday, the scene where Steve cleans Blue's pawprint off the screen was cut for unknown reasons, and goes straight to him receiving the Handy Dandy Notebook from Sidetable Drawer.
  • In the same episode, the scene in which Mailbox first arrives at his surprise party is cut for unknown reasons. After the Mailtime chorus, it cuts to Steve giving Mailbox his present.
• In the episode Adventures in Art, a scene where Steve is giving Blue a thumbs up for her painting was censored with a close-up of the latter's face. The close-up is taken from the episode What Does Blue Want to Make Out of Recycled Things?, as indicated by the picture frame in the background.
• In the episode Blue Goes to the Beach, a scene where Blue is hiding from Steve in a laundry basket was cut entirely for unknown reasons.
  • The same episode's Mailtime segment was also removed entirely, as the video letter contains footage of mixed-gender swimming, which goes against Iranian laws regarding gender segregation.
• The entire Mailtime segments in Pretend Time and Blue Wants to Play a Song Game! were cut for unknown reasons. Oddly enough, part of the Mailtime chorus is still audible in the background of the former episode.
• In the episode A Snowy Day, a scene in which Steve and Blue are looking for matching snowflake patterns with Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper was cut entirely for unknown reasons.
• The ending of the episode What Does Blue Want to Make Out of Recycled Things? was cut off almost abruptly, due to the fact that Blue is seen playing a guitar made out of recycled materials.
• In the episode What Was Blue's Dream About?, the footage was stretched and cropped near the end in order to hide Steve's guitar.
  • The same episode's Mailtime segment was also cut entirely, due to the video letter showcasing a dream catcher, an object considered haram in Islamic culture.

Notes

• In most cases, Blue's barks have been dubbed over by another voice actor, making this one of the only dubs of Blue's Clues to do so.
  • Likewise, Magenta and Green Puppy's barks have also been dubbed over.
• The episode Blue's Sad Day uses M&E from The Lost Episode!.
• This is the only dub of Blue’s Clues that has censorship applied due to broadcasting regulations, since every other dub airs it normally.
• Unlike the majority of Persian dubs, this dub is legally produced and is authorized by Viacom.
