“Jess” Discographic (informally called “Jess” Studio, “Jess” Diskografik or “Jess” Studio Diskografike) is an Albanian discographic and dubbing studio, part of "AA" Film Company. Most of its dubs air on Bang Bang and Çufo, but some of the older dubs were sold in DVD and VHS.[1]

The studio was created in 1995, as an extension of "JESS shpk." (formerly called "ARTAN shpk." during 1993-1998), a store owned by Tano Kasemi which sold musical equipment and appliances. It recorded music until June 2002, when it started producing dubs for ALBATR@DE[2] and TV Klan[3][4]. Later it started producing dubs for Top Channel and eventually DigitAlb. In 2005, Tano's wife, Aida Kasemi, founded "AA" Film Company, a bigger company providing a variety of services other than dubbing, such as the production of films or various shows. The studio was moved there and in 2007 the old company was closed permanently.

In 2019, a new studio named Studio Suprem began providing the dubs for DigitAlb, after "AA" Film Company stopped their relationship with them due to financial debts. Regardless, some of the studio's dubs have premiered after Suprem appeared, because they had been produced previously.

Trivia[]

  • Most of their ALBATR@DE dubs credit ALBATR@DE as the dubbing studio on the VHS covers, even though they were only the distributor and commissioner of the dub. In the VHS footage and on the DVD covers, ALBATR@DE is usually mentioned without hinting at it being the studio. The dubbing year is also mentioned alongside it in the footage, either on the beginning of the movie or in the end credits, but the studio is not mentioned, with an exception being Anastasia which credits Jess and then says “ALBATR@DE VIDEO 2003”, which was likely added after the credits were made.
    • Similarly, dubs distributed by Top Channel and/or Top Records sometimes credit Top Records as the dubbing studio on the DVD and VHS covers.
  • They dubbed for ALBATR@DE up to 2004, after which point the ALBATR@DE owners opened their own studios using some of the staff and actors from Jess. One of said studios would later become Studio Dodona.
  • Jess redubbed some of the ALBATR@DE dubs for DigitAlb, while the others DigitAlb airs (even if not dubbed by Jess). Some films also could have been redubbed due to technical problems or low quality of the originals.
  • Most of the ALBATR@DE dubs (whether made by Jess or not) air on Tring channels too.
  • Usually, the name of the old studio, “Jess” Discographic, is credited at the end if the dub is illegal, otherwise the name of the company, "AA" Film Company, is credited instead. There are exceptions that go both ways.
