ふたりはプリキュア is a Japanese animated children's television series produced by Toei Animation, being the first series of the Pretty Cure franchise. A sequel was made called ふたりはプリキュア Max Heart on February 6, 2005, and the original series was succeeded by ふたりはプリキュア Splash Star on February 5, 2006.
The series follows two girls with completely different personalities and interests-- the sporty, outgoing Nagisa Misumi and the introverted leader of the science club Honoka Yukishiro. These two cross paths when two creatures come to them and tell them that they need to transform into Pretty Cure in order to save the Garden of Light. Nagisa and Honoka become the emissaries of light: Cure Black and Cure White. Together, they fight against the Dark Zone and find the Prism Stones to revert the damage done to the Garden of Light.
