サクラ大戦 ～桜華絢爛～ is a 1997 Japanese anime miniseries and the first animated adaptation of the Sakura Wars series. The series was initially announced as part of several projects from a planned meger between franchise owner Sega with Bandai, but the merger was later called off. However, production later continued and all four episodes were released on VHS and LaserDiscs in Japan from December 18, 1997 to July 25, 1998.
