The Dubbing Database

ドンキーコング バナンザ (Donkey Kong Bananza) is a 2025 open-world action-adventure 3D platform game in the Donkey Kong series developed and published by Nintendo exclusively for the Nintendo Switch 2 system. The game features Donkey Kong adventuring deep through layers of the Underground World to reach its core, chasing after VoidCo, a mining corporation led by evil apes who have stolen the Banandium Gems. Gameplay focuses on Donkey Kong's power, letting him use his moveset to smash through obstacles, objects, and even the game level itself. This game introduces many living rock creatures as enemies, although one of them is friendly towards Donkey Kong, helping him in his explorations. The game was released worldwide on July 17, 2025.

Originally announced during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct presentation on April 2, 2025, it is the second 3D platformer in the Donkey Kong franchise following Donkey Kong 64, and the first original game in the franchise since Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

Similarly to other games released for Nintendo Switch 2, Donkey Kong is portrayed with a new design resembling the 2D illustrations drawn by Shigehisa Nakaue. The game also features full voice acting exclusively for the supporting character Odd Rock, later revealed to be a young Pauline, who has a special singing ability. Pauline in this game is also voice-acted in multiple languages, including Japanese (which is treated as her original language for the purposes of this wiki), English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese and more.

In the game's Options menu, players can adjust the language of Pauline's in-game speaking voice independently of the game's display language (the latter of which is tied specifically to the Nintendo Switch 2 console's system language), much like the Talking Flowers in Super Mario Bros. Wonder or certain fully voiced NPCs in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
