フルメタル・パニック？ふもっふ (Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu) is the spin-off season of フルメタル·パニック!, taking place between the first and the second season. It started broadcasting on August 25, 2003 and finished broadcasting on November 18, in the same year.
With a notoriously different tone from their other seasons, Fumoffu emphasises the high school romantic comedy aspects of the franchise with often crude humour and focuses on the romantic tension between Sousuke Sagara and Kaname Chidori. The mecha battles and the political intrigue that characterised much of the principal seasons are completely missing, the only reference to the mecha genre aspect of Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu is the Bonta-kun, which is one of the most prominent parodies in this anime.
Plot[]
Unlike the principal seasons, there is little to no plot continuity between episodes, various standing by their own, making it almost unnecessary to summarize. The only exceptions are some two-part stories that are told in two episodes. Most of the stories in Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu are adaptations of the original Full Metal Panic! short stories written by Shoji Gatoh and published in Dragon Magazine.
