Trivia[]

  • While the announcer is voiced by John Hulaton in the Japanese version, the announcer in the international version is Mario himself, voiced by Charles Martinet.
    • Additionally, when the title screen show up, Japanese children simply shout out "Mario Kart", whereas the international version, Mario himself says "Welcome to Mario Kart".
  • Charles Martinet's name was misspelt as "Charles Martinee" in the credits. This mistake was exclusive to the Japanese version, as the misspelled name was fixed in the international version.
    • Interestingly, both John Hulaton and Thomas Spindler also had their lastnames misppelt, with John's being "Huraton" and Thomas's being "Spindlor". This is possibly due to how Japanese people pronounced and write words.
  • Some of the audio in the game were reused:
    • The audio from the Thwomps, as well as the Boos, are in fact edited versions of Mario and Wario's audio, with the one used for the Boos being used prior, in Super Mario 64.
  • The audio for Bowser's roars came from a 1957 film titled The Land Unknown, and were re-used in later games as well.
