光年正传 is the Chinese Mandarin dub of Lightyear. It was originally planned to be released in theaters in China in June 2022, but was banned from screening after Disney refused to cut a same-sex kiss between Alisha Hawthorne and her female partner.[1] Portrayals of homosexuality in the media are banned in China,[2][3] where same-sex relationships are not officially recognized.
Instead, the dub was released on Disney+ sometime in 2023, despite the service not being available in Mainland China.
