光, also known by its translitteration as Hikari, and also known internationally as Simple and Clean, is a song that plays in キングダムハーツ. It is the main theme of the game. It plays in both the opening and the ending, with two different versions.
Hikaru Utada / 宇多田ヒカル, a Japanese singer, sings the song in both the original Japanese and English versions. She would also sing the following songs in the series.
The song itself reappeared in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and its remake, as well as Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep and Kingdom Hearts Re:coded.
An orchestra version of the song plays in the first game's pre-intro, when the players lets the title screen rolling while not touching buttons. Additionally, this version also played for a bit near the end of Kingdom Hearts II. Additionally, an updated version of this was used near the end of Kingdom Hearts III.
A piano rendition of the song, titled "Sora's Sacrifice", plays during the protagonist of the same name sacrificing themselves by stabbing themselves into the heart in order to free the Princesses of Light.
A new remix of the song called Ray of Hope Mix was used in the video game Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue.
