剣勇伝説YAIBA is a 52-episode Japanese anime based off the manga Yaiba by Gosho Aoyama. The series aired on TV Tokyo, Television Hokkaido and other affiliates from April 9, 1993 to April 1, 1994.
Yaiba, a samurai-in-training, lived in the jungle with his father Kenjurou, his pet tiger Kagetora, and his pet vulture Shonosuke, until they are attacked by giant gorillas. They escape, and soon find themselves into the city. Yaiba soon finds out he is the incarnation of a legendary warrior who is able to wield the Raijin-ken sword and must defeat his rival Onimaru, and sets out to become a great samurai.
A reboot by Wit Studio premiered on April 5, 2025.
