科学忍者隊ガッチャマン is a 1972 Japanese anime science-fiction television series produced by Tatsunoko Production, serving as the first installment in the Gatchaman series. The series was directed by Hisayuki Toriumi with character designs from original story creator Tatsuo Yoshida and music by Bob Sakuma.

The series centers around five young heroes who suit up to become Gatchaman and use their powers to stop the evil Galactor from taking over the Earth's natural resources.

The series aired on Fuji TV and its affiliates from October 1, 1972 to September 29, 1974 for 105 episodes and was followed up by a sequel titled 科学忍者隊ガッチャマン II in 1978. Footage and characters from the series were adapted into 1978's Battle of the Planets, which would gain the show's international presence.
