미라큘러스: 레이디버그와 블랙캣 is one of two Korean dubs of Miraculous, les aventures de Ladybug et Chat Noir. It was the very first dub of the series to premiere, airing on September 1, 2015, on EBS1 in South Korea. A handful of season 1 episodes originally debuted with this dub throughout several EBS networks under the simplified title of 레이디버그, a name carried over to the series' official Korean YouTube channel that is operated by SAMG Animation[1]. Interestingly, the second half of the season was marketed as the second season of the series. However, as of August 29, 2019, this is no longer the case, as the actual second season of the series is listed as season 2 instead. The first season concluded on EBS1 on May 24, 2016. During this time, the series soon became the number one most popular children's programme in South Korea.

Starting with season 2, episodes of this dub premiered first on Tooniverse. The second season ran from April 2, 2018, concluding on November 30, 2018. The third season premiered on the channel on September 5, 2019, concluding on June 5, 2020. The dub also airs on countless other national Korean networks, most notably on Disney Channel, Nickelodeon and Daekyo Kids TV, where, more often than not, their premiere dates for new episodes take place closely after Tooniverse's premieres.

The dub no longer airs on Disney Channel due to the channel's shut down on September 30, 2021, which was because of the introduction of Disney+ to South Korea. The dub started being available on the service as of late August 2022 with episode 54; as usual, episodes will be added to the service sporadically, at no consistent basis. Prior to this, the dubs of the New York TV special, which had first premiered on Disney Channel on February 11, 2021, was made available to the service.

The series itself is available to stream on several South Korean services such as Netflix and Anikids. It formerly streamed on Coupang Play.

This dub was ironically one of the last to premiere season 4, despite being the first to air the series; the fourth season premiered on EBS1 on December 26, 2022, with the first two episodes. In December 2022, another Korean dub, this time produced in Adone Studio, was produced exclusively for Disney+ for season 5. Because Disney refused to give Korean broadcasters the rights to their dub, the same season was later entirely redubbed with the same voice cast for Tooniverse that started to broadcast in October 2023.

  • As with most dubs of the series, this dub is based off of the English dub rather than the original French version.
  • The extended theme song of this dub, sung by the former K-pop group Fiestar, has an entirely different instrumental. A shortened version is used for the series.
    • At the end of intro features the original English logo, which rotates to show the either the Disney or EBS Korean localized logo, depending on which version is viewed. From season 2 onwards, different renders of Ladybug and Cat Noir are also used.
  • Similarly to the German dub on most occasions, episodes are not titled after the main antagonist of that episode, but rather based heavily off of the story of the episode.
  • The transformation phrases are changed in this dub. Characters say "변신! / Byeonsin!", which means "Transform!" followed by their hero/villain name.
    • However, this would contradict situations in which characters come up with a their hero name after they've transformed.
    • In the dub of the episode "Mangeamour" ("Heart Hunter"), Master Fu's transformation into Jade Turtle has a different phrase, as Jade Turtle's name is not revealed in the English dub.
  • In the dub of the episode "Anansi", a different background instrumental plays while Ladybug gives Nino the Turtle Miraculous for unknown reasons.
  • Due to anti-Japanese sentiment in Korea:
    • In episode 57, Adrien does not greet Kagami and her mother in Japanese, still speaking in Korean.
    • Kagami's second akumatized identity, Oni-Chan, is referred to as a dokkaebi, a Korean goblin, rather than her original name which connotes to yōkai, which are Japanese spirits.
  • The episodes "Ladybug" and "Qilin" share the same episode title in the dub (억울한 누명).

Errors[]

  • In episode 40, the show's theme song is played as Clara Nightingale's song dedicated to Ladybug and Cat Noir. Due to the fact that the Korean dub changed the instrumental for the theme song, the lyrics were instead resung by Clara's Korean voice actor, but the acapella is off sync.
  • In episode 53, when Ladybug fixes the damage caused by Gigantitan at the start of the episode, she says "Lucky Charm" offscreen rather than "Miraculous Ladybug". In future releases, such as on Netflix, this is fixed.
