Barbapapà is one of several Italian dubs of Barbapapa. Although it was the second Italian dub produced for the series, it was the first to be released, being succeeded by Le avventure di Barbapapà, a compilation film that was released in Italian theaters in 1977 which featured a different voice cast.
This dub first premiered on RaiUno on January 13, 1976, and it soon after premiered on RaiDue on February 14, 1978 at 17:00. Claudio Lippi gave voice to Barbapapa and all the male characters of the series, while Orietta Berti would do the same for the female characters.
Since then, this dub was replaced with a third Italian dub that premiered in 2006 on Nickelodeon, with subsequent reruns on Rai Yoyo and DeA Junior.

- This is one of a few dubs of the first season to feature individual voices for the characters, although the voice cast is limited between two actors.
- The transformation phrase the Barbapapas say when they shapeshift is translated here as "Resta di stucco è un barbatrucco!".
- The opening theme performed by Roberto Vecchioni and Mele Verdi (previously having been used in Le avventure di Barbapapà) was completely re-dubbed with a version by Orietta Berti and Claudio Lippi in the second season of the dub; the third Italian dub instead re-used the version by Roberto Vecchioni for its intro.
- The season two opening theme has a unique role-call for the characters, in that Lippi and Berti take turns saying each character's name which correspond with who they voice - they also take their time saying each name, instead of singing it in a fast melody like the original - as well, when that part happens the main chorus is dropped.
- Barbapapa is notably one of the first Japanese anime to air in Italy (although this only applies to the second season, as the first season was produced entirely in the Netherlands).
- Specifically, it is noted to be the third Japanese anime to arrive in the country, after "Vicky the Viking" and "Heidi".
