Barbapapa is the German dub of the show of the same name. It first premiered on Das Erste on November 5, 1974 in Germany. The series stopped airing on the channel by December 6, 1998. Since then, it has been syndicated on many other German networks.[1] The dub was narrated by Peter Kirchberger.
The second season of the series would not see any release until 2010, where the episodes were released on two DVDs under the titles Barbapapa Classics 3 and Barbapapa Classics 4. It soon after aired on television on Junior, beginning September 4, 2011. Interestingly enough, this season still features Kirchberger performing the voices for each character, a model in which was abandoned by this point in the original French and other versions.
Universum Film released a complete box set of the series on September 14, 2012, containing all 150 episodes in German on six DVDs.

- The characters' names are translated as follows:
- Barbabelle – Barbabella
- Barbotine – Barbaletta
- Barbibul – Barbarix
- Barbidur – Barbawum
- Barbouille – Barbabo
- Barbidou – Barbakus
- Barbapapa, Barbamama, and Barbalala's names remain the same.
- The transformation phrase that the Barbapapas say when they shapeshift is translated as "Ra-Ru-Rick, Barbatrick".
- This dub inserts its own title cards on-screen as the episode starts, just like the Korean and Albanian dubs (as well as some TV broadcasts of the original French).
- Peter Kirchberger voices all of the characters in both seasons. In the original version, this only happened in season one.
