Bola de Dragón Z (also known as Dragon Ball Z) is the European Spanish dub of ドラゴンボールZ. This dub was based on three dubs: the Galician dub (also from Spain, although it was a translation derived from the French dub); the English translated scripts by Toei; and the French dub. It is the one of the five Spain language dubs, along with Basque, Catalan, Galician and Valencian.

Episodes 1-167[]
Originally, the distribution rights of the series were acquired by the Andalusian channel Canal Sur, and later by the Telemadrid channel, in 1992 and 1993. The dub was commissioned from Videotake SUR, which dubbed a total of 146 episodes, up to its closure, in the middle of dubbing work. The next 20 episodes were dubbed at the Alta Frecuencia studio, with 166 episodes being dubbed in September 1993, when dubbing stopped.
During this stage, the dub used more than one script as a base: Videotake SUR in the first 103 episodes used the script of the Galician dub, another dub from Spain, but from the Galicia region, which in turn is based on the French dub; and between episodes 104 to 146 the English translated scripts by Toei was used as a base (until that time, the series was broadcast simultaneously with France, but the success of the program in Spain led to more episodes being licensed, but directly from Japan). For its part, Alta Frecuencia studio dubbed episodes 147 to 167 again using the scripts of the Galician dub. The use of different scripts, added to the fact that all these dubs were produced in too much haste, due to pressure from the television channels, caused the translation to have too many inconsistencies, translation and adaptation errors, added to the fact that many names, adaptations and errors of the Galician and French dubs, will also pass to the European Spanish dub.
On Canal Sur, the series ended abruptly, since, due to pressure from the audience, and even from some Andalusian politicians, due to the violence shown without any censorship in the program, the series was banned from Canal Sur, not broadcasted more than 146 episodes.
Episodes 168-291[]
After Canal Sur and Telemadrid stopped showing the series, the Antena 3 channel, a national channel in Spain, would acquire the series again. Antena 3 failed to reach an agreement with Alta Frecuencia studio, and the dub was changed again, this time to Surco studio (Comunicación Sur studio). The new dubbing studio decided to definitely use the French dub as a base, to the point that the opening used in the first broadcasts was the French opening without dubbing (in previous episodes, a version of the same French opening was used, but dubbed in Spanish). During this stage, a series of problems and inconsistencies in the dialogues occurred, inheriting many of the flaws and errors of the French dub. Also, there was a moment in which French dub had to be advanced in the translation of episodes, and since there was no Japanese script, they had to resort to the infamous practice of inventing dialogues to fill in spaces, which caused more inconsistencies.
Added to the above, Antena 3 added Parental Guidelines Advisory Contents, which they didn’t have in their broadcast on Canal Sur or Telemadrid, in addition to the fact that there was more censorship of the dialogues, adding to the childish approach, which was also inherited from French dub.
