Trivia[]

  • Martinet's lastname was misspelt as "Martinee" five times; in Mario Party, Mario Party 2, Super Smash Bros., Mario Golf and the Japanese version of Mario Kart 64.
  • In Super Mario 64, an audio of Martinet laughing was used for Bowser (pitched low and slowed down) and the Boos (pitched high and sped up). Those audio would later be reused in other games, such exemple being Mario Kart 64.
    • Additionally, a sample of him laughing as Wario would be re-edited for the laugh of the Thwomps in the said-game, similar to Thomas Spindler, Wario's Japanese voice actor.
  • Charles provides the voice of Giuseppe both in the original version of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and in multiple dubs where he re-records his line in various languages. He also voices Mario and Luigi’s father in a smaller amount of dubs.
    • While Giuseppe is still voiced by Charles Martinet in the Japanese dub, his line is for some reason retained in English from the original English version. This is unlike all other dubs where Martinet still voices the character; in those, Martinet recorded his line to be in the same language as the dub.
    • Interestingly, the film would be the very last time he voiced characters in Mario related as on August 21, 2023, it was announced that Charles Martinet would be stepping down from his roles in the series, for currently unspecified reasons, to become an official ambassador for the series.
  • Charles can speak fluent French and Spanish due to being of French descent and having lived in Barcelona, Spain during his youth. Additionally, he also speaks some Italian.
