Chaves is one of several Brazilian Portuguese dubs of El Chavo del Ocho. This dub was made, again, for a series of lost classic dub episodes, which disappeared during the first 2 decades of broadcasting on SBT. The dub was made between 2018 and 2020. It is one of three redubs made of the classic version by the Maga dubbing team.
Dubbing history[]
A number of episodes of the series, despite being dubbed in Brazil, are lost today, either because they were broadcast a long time ago, or only once, or very few times. That is why, when the series was acquired by the Multishow channel, from Grupo Globo, one of SBT channel commercial competitors, it ordered that all the 'unreleased' episodes be dubbed, and others whose classic dubbings are lost. The new cast, despite the changes, was more well received by fans. In addition, this studio made a re-dubbing of the episodes dubbed by the Gabia studio for DVD, and by Rio Sound/Dubrasil for SBT, because the first ones were exclusive to DVD, and have been out of distribution since 2008 (many of these are now lost media), with only those that were distributed and re-recorded in a pirated way being available); and those by Rio Sound/Dubrasil due to strong criticism, especially the change of voice of Don Ramón and Quico, returning to their original voices in this new re-dubbing.
