Detective Conan is the Latin American Spanish dub of 名探偵コナン. The first 123 episodes were produced by Telecom Animation Film USA (a subsidiary of TMS-Kyokuichi) and recorded by All Post & later by VDI Media in the United States, and was distributed to several channels across Latin America, starting with Azteca Trece in Mexico on March 29, 1998, making it one of the first dubs to exist. The dub had changed several character's names and certain cultural references.

In 2014, a continuation of the dub, which was produced in Chile by AEDEA Studios, and continued where this one had left off, was commissioned by TMS and aired on November 13th of the same year. It was notably more faithful to the original Japanese version, with the character names remaining the same. The dub stopped airing in 2017 at episode 283, though reruns occasionally occurred afterwards. In 2023, the studio had completed an additional episode that had been left unfinished before as part of a crowdfunding campaign, and was sent to people who supported it through email[2]; these episodes soon after aired on television on May 10, 2024 and on July 13 & 19 of that same year. Notes[]

  • Many episodes were dubbed in the same day and sometimes by five different voice directors, who normally ignored what the other director did in the previous episodes they dubbed before. This caused regular characters, like Sonoko Suzuki for example, to get names changed in multiple episodes. This, and the fact the series suffered of low ratings, which was one lf the reasons that the dub was canceled, despite its cult classic following.
    • The dub was later continued by ETC TV.
