Translations[]

  • Localized title card footage was filmed or edited for select episodes.
  • Eberhard Storeck wrote his own dialogue for the Swedish Chef, who only spoke mock-Swedish in the original, as the character was too empty for him.[2]
    • He also changed the character to a Dane because he lived in Sylt and wanted to satirize the accent that Danes have when they speak German.
    • Despite this, the opening gag in the Bernadette Peters episode uses his original nationality.
  • Crazy Harry was called Crazy Donald in the first two seasons, which is a remnant from the first pilot of the show, The Muppets Valentine Show.
  • Both the Connie Stevens and Leslie Uggams episodes have Kermit mentioning the respective Sesame Street characters as coming from Sesamstraße.
  • In Paul Williams' episode, during the Talk Spot, when Kermit mentions famous short people, Mickey Mouse is among one of the names, as opposed to Mickey Rooney in the original.
  • In the Petula Clark episode, Mickey Moose's name is "Buttermilch".
  • In Rich Little's episode, after doing an impression of W.C. Fields in the opening gag, Scooter identifies it as an impression of Bill Ramsey.
  • The cast of Star Wars is referred to as the stars of "Krieg der Sterne", the original German title for Star Wars.

Notes[]

  • Almost all of the songs performed by the guest stars were left in English, including dialogue during the songs.
  • For the Season 1 episode starring Twiggy, a new song was shot with German singer Mary Roos, singing a German translation of "Lean on Me", while backed up by Rowlf, some Whatnots, and a few members of The Electric Mayhem. This replaces Twiggy's cover of the Beatles' "In My Life".
    • The introduction for Twiggy from Gonzo and the Statler and Waldorf scene following her number remained, but redubbed and rewritten. Gonzo confuses Roos' last name with various flowers before Fozzie corrects him in the redubbed introduction.
  • The closing credits were never updated throughout the entire run of the show, opting to utilize the Season 1 credit crawl for all 5 seasons. Zoot's ending shot would be replaced with a ZDF network credit.
  • One episode, being the Edgar Bergen episode, went unaired during the show's initial run, finally airing on October 29th, 1991 on Pro7.
