Dragon Ball (also known as Dragonball) is one of several English dubs of ドラゴンボール. It was the first (known) English adaptation of the anime series, based on the manga by Akira Toriyama.
Broadcast[]
The series' first 57 episodes were apparently licensed to Harmony Gold in the late 1980s, but only 5 episodes appear to have aired in early 1990. It was run on select TV stations before the license expired. This dub changed most of the names of characters and objects, some of which were carried over unto newer dubs, including "Master Roshi".
Harmony Gold also produced a TV special edited from 神龍の伝説 and 魔訶不思議大冒険.
The more well-known English dubs were produced years later.
