This article is about the original series from 1998. For the reboot made in 2017, see Elmo's World (2017).

Elmo's World is a fifteen-minute-long segment originally shown at the end of the American children's television program, Sesame Street. It premiered on November 16, 1998 on PBS, as part of the show's structural change at the end of each episode until 2009, but was then replaced with a reboot in 2017.

Broadcast[]

The segment first aired during the season 30 premiere of Sesame Street on November 16, 1998 on PBS. The first episode was "Balls". In 2009 for the show's 40th season, it was discontinued. In 2012 for the show's 43rd season, it was replaced by Elmo the Musical. The first installment was "Guacamole the Musical", and it aired during "Get Lost, Mr. Chips" on September 24, 2012.

In 2016 for the season 46 premiere "Bedtime Story", Elmo the Musical was discontinued and replaced by HD re-edits of Elmo's World episodes, starting with "Sleep". It was also the first season to air on HBO, on January 16, 2016.

In 2017 for season 47, the modified Elmo's World shorts were discontinued and replaced with a reboot of the series.
