Good Morning, Vietnam is a war comedy film from 1987 that was directed by Barry Levinson and written by Mitch Markowitz. The film, set in Saigon in 1965 during the Vietnam War, stars Robin Williams as an Armed Forces Radio Service (AFRS) DJ who is enormously popular with the troops and annoys his higher-ups with what they name his "irreverent tendency". The story is partially based on Adrian Cronauer's experiences as an AFRS DJ.

Williams' portrayal of Cronauer's radio broadcasts was mostly improvisational. Buena Vista Pictures (under its Touchstone Pictures banner) released the film to critical and commercial success; Williams received a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor - Motion Picture Musical or Comedy, as well as nominations for an Academy Award for Best Actor and a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role. In 2000, the picture was voted number 100 on the AFI's "100 Years...100 Laughs" list, which includes the 100 funniest films in American cinema.
