Hamtaro (also known as Hamtaro: Little Hamsters, Big Adventures) is the English dub of とっとこハム太郎. Produced and licensed by ShoPro USA in North America, this dub was recorded by Ocean Productions in Canada. It first premiered on Cartoon Network in the United States on June 3, 2002. It aired its last episode on June 25, 2003. The Halloween special Ham-Ham Halloween! (season 7, episode 173 in the original Japanese version) aired on October 21, 2003, and the show then continued to air in reruns until October 30, 2004.

In Canada, Hamtaro premiered on YTV on August 5, 2002, with reruns airing until around 2006.

Notes

• The dub heavily altered the series' soundtrack, with much of the music and sound effects being replaced by original pieces composed by John Mitchell, Tom Keenlyside, and David Iris. These music cues have been recycled from "Spiff and Hercules", "Monster Rancher", "Mega Man", etc.
• Episode 83 was skipped in this dub, due to being about the "Setsubun" festival. It was presumed that the episode concept was too difficult to work into an English script, with the episode being omitted from the dub as a result. However, the German, French, and Italian dubs did translate this episode.
  • However, "OVA" releases would later be dubbed in English as "special episodes".
  • While episode 83 was never dubbed in English, the episode has an official English name of “The Kindergarten Monsters!”. Judging by some internal documents, this title seemingly existed before the decision was even made to skip the episode. Notably, its English title card is also used in the Valencian dub.
  • Strangely, episode 83 (under "The Kindergarten Monsters!" name) supposedly did air in English; exclusively on the "Kids Central" channel in Singapore. This was likely some sort of error in the guide listing, as it contradicts other, stronger evidence that shows the episode was never dubbed.
• This version would serve as the basis for most dubs, including the Basque, Croatian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Spain), Swedish, and Valencian dubs.
• This dub uses its own original composition for both openings of the series, the first opening ("It's Hamtaro Time!") is mainly used in all the dubs that use the English dub as a basis as a result. However, the ending song used in this dub is a direct dub of the original Japanese ending.
  • Despite using this dub as a base, and dubbing the first English opening originally, the French and German dubs would later use the Japanese openings 3 and 2 respectively, while the Valencian dub would later use the original Japanese opening theme (undubbed).
  • The second opening, "H-A-M-T-A-R-O", which is used in episodes 61 onward, was only ever dubbed in Latin American and European Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese.
• For unknown reasons, the "H-A-M-T-A-R-O" theme was rarely aired on original broadcasts in the United States on Cartoon Network; instead being removed and replaced the show's first English opening sequence and song. In rare cases, Cartoon Network accidentally aired both sequences, one by one.
• Episode 105 (episode 173 in the original Japanese version) aired 10 days before it aired in Japan in the United States on October 21, 2003. This was also the last episode to be produced for the English dub.
