Censorship[]
Episodes featuring LGBT characters (e.g. Clyde's fathers Howard and Harold, Luna and her girlfriend Sam) were banned from reruns on Nickelodeon from June 6, 2018 after the Ordo Iuris (an ultra-conservative organization) lodged a complaint to the Polish National Broadcasting Council claiming that the show's portrayal of same-sex parents went against Article 18 of the Polish Constitution, which defines marriage as "a union of a man and a woman".[2] Homosexuality is seen as taboo in Poland, where same-sex relationships are not officially recognized, although the country does not have any laws which censor such content in the media.
The ban also applied to newer episodes featuring the aforementioned characters which were intended to air after the said date, as well as episodes paired with the banned episodes. However, the dialogue does not censor any mentions of Clyde's fathers in other episodes.
There is a possibility that these episodes have been unbanned; the November 2021 Nickelodeon Poland schedule states that some of the banned episodes would be airing ("Attention Deficit"/"Out on a Limo" on Oct 19, "Lincoln Loud: Girl Guru"/"Come Sale Away" on Oct 20, "Cooked!" on Nov 19),[3] however none of those episodes feature Sam.[4] "Deal Me Out"/"Friendzy" was aired after 2 years of its last re-run in segments on Nicktoons, starting 9th December 2021, while "What Wood Lincoln Do?" was aired on 14th December 2021 on Nicktoons.
Besides banning episodes, the dialogue is also censored, such as Luna's line "My girlfriend Sam and I..." in "Undercover Mom", being changed to "My friend Sam and I..." to censor any references to their relationship. Several Season 5 episodes featuring Clyde's fathers which were dubbed and aired (with the exception of "Runaway McBride") had Clyde referring to his fathers as just his parents, without specifying their gender.
- Starting from the episide "The Loud Cloud", Luna refers Sam as her girlfriend in Polish dub.
- Even though Clyde's fathers are mentioned as parents from Season 5, they are still referrenced as dads/men in single lines.
The banned episodes, however, are shown from October 3, 2022 onwards on Nicktoons HD Commercial Poland (Central and Eastern Europe), along with Hungarian, Bulgarian, Czech and Romanian dubs.
Trivia[]
- This dub, along with the Finnish dub, are the only dubs where the main characters' first names are localized.
- Additionally, almost all the other characters except for some minor characters have had their names localized.
- The Loud siblings (except Lola) have nicknames being a shorter version of their names, unlike the original version.
- In the original version, Lynn Sr. shares his name with Lynn, but in this dub, he shares his name (Henryk) with Lana (Henryka).
- The two voice actors of Lynn Sr. are brothers.
