Hijos del Monte is a Chilean drama telenovela. Produced by Televisión Nacional de Chile (TVN).
The series debuted on TVN in Chile on September 2, 2008. It ended its original run on March 10, 2009, after one season and 163 episodes.
This is the first Chilean television program produced entirely in high definition, and in a 16:9 of aspect ratio. The soap opera was very successful in Chile, to the point that in just six months it was distributed globally through Telemundo Television Studios with exhibition rights graduated from 15 countries.
The series tells the story of the five del Monte brothers (from oldest to youngest): Juan, José, Pedro, Gaspar, and Lucas. The five men were all adopted by Emilio del Monte and his wife, Clarisa. Clarisa died from cancer a few years earlier and Emilio dies of a heart attack just before the series begins. The close-knit family live an easygoing life on their ranch. The Del Monte brothers' lives are abruptly changed with the arrival of their father's illegitimate daughter, Paula del Monte. Emilio left a portion of his estate to Paula, who wants to claim what is rightfully hers.
The telenovela is starring María Elena Swett, Jorge Zabaleta, Francisco Pérez-Banne, Mónica Godoy, Cristián Arriagada, Matías Oviedo, and Andrés Reyes.
The series was broadcast in its original version on local television channels in Paraguay, Panama, Spain, the United States (on Spanish-language TV channels), and Uruguay. The telenovela had versions in several languages, which were broadcast in Bulgaria, Georgia, Indonesia and Israel. Subsequently, the telenovela had foreign remakes in Colombia, Mexico, Portugal, and the Arab World.
