Indosiar Post Production Departement is a sub-department of Indosiar Program Production Departement, usually handles audiovisual editing for various programs broadcasted on Indosiar. They were also responsible for most of the dubbed programs broadcasted on said channel from 1995 to 2010. Other dubbed programs that weren't recorded in-house at that period were usually outsourced to KAAF & Erfas. Due to an internal monetary crisis occured in late 2000s, Indosiar had to disband their drama dubbing sub-department in early 2010. Since then, all of their dubs have been made by other studios, through outsourcing of its production.

History[]

1st Indonesian dubbing era[]

After its corporate establishment in 1991 and the eventual merge with Merdeka Citra Televisi Indonesia and Ramako Indotelevisi in 1993, Indosiar started to hire a massive amount of staff, screen actors, & voice actors for their in-house drama program production projects, which included dub projects for foreign programs handled by the post production sub-department. Some of those actors then became employees positioned on different departments like Adang Sudarto (program producer), Ade Basuki (program producer)[1] and Iphie (fashion stylist).[2] In 1994, several months before their studio at Daan Mogot finished its construction, they rented EltraCine's studio facilities to record their dubs.

Indosiar's post production facilities consist of 6 offline editing rooms, 2 online editing rooms, & 3 dubbing rooms to support massive program productions demanded by employers from TVB. Drama program dubbing projects were coordinated by senior voice actor Bahar Mario. He also trained employees that had minimum to zero voice acting experience.

English and 2nd Indonesian dubbing era[]

The 2nd massive wave of voice actors recruitment happened from mid-1997 to 1998 after the Indonesian government passed a temporary ban on Indonesian dub projects for foreign live-action media. Said ban forced Indosiar and other studios to produce dubs in English instead of Indonesian, mostly for live-action media. This time, they hired many Indonesian voice actors that could do English voice acting works. This wave marked the debut of many voice actors like Ferry Kurniawan, Frente, & Tri Adi Setiawan. After the ban was lifted, they would also go on to do Indonesian dubs along with some of the 3rd wave actors.

The 3rd massive wave happened circa 1999-2002 after some of the 1st wave actors had reached the end of their contract period or resigned from Indosiar. Most of the voice actors hired in this wave already had previous voice acting experience. In the same year, Indosiar began to outsource some of its dubs to other studios, such as KAAF Production or Erfas Studio.

Drama dubbing sub-department disbandment[]

Due to an internal monetary crisis that occurred in the late 2000s, Indosiar had to carry out a mass layoff of voice actors and screen actors as part of the corporate restructuring planned for the end of 2009 and completed in early 2010. This then resulted the disbandment of drama program production (which then revived circa 2014-2015) and foreign drama program dubbing sub-departments from Indosiar Program Production Departement. The voice actors stayed at other studios where they already worked (e.g.: Iphie at RCS, Deden Stovia at EltraCine & Erfas, & Leoni at Erfas & RCTI) or moved to other studios as a new recruitee (e.g.: Bonham & Illa at Erfas).

Said disbandment made Indosiar went full outsource for their dubbed programs. Most of them were outsourced to Erfas, RCS, Shefai and exceptionally IMMG. Recently, they started to collaborate with KAN for some dubbed programs that aired or are airing on Mentari TV.
