Iyuno Denmark (formerly known as Iyuno-SDI Group Denmark, Iyuno Media Group Denmark, BTI Studios Denmark, SDI Media Denmark, Eskimo Avenue, Broadcast Text International, Dubberman, Broadcast Text Danmark and Sun Studio and International Film Teknik) is a Danish recording studio located in Copenhagen and is a part of Iyuno.

History[]

IFT[]

International Film Teknik (later known as IFT Media Services A/S) was founded in Copenhagen in mid-1930s and initially was dedicated for making subtitles and translations for cinemas. In mid-1980s, the company started expanding its services to TV and home entertainment. SDI acquired the company from Egmont in May 1999.[3]

Tocano Studiet, Hørve[]

Before the establishment of Sun Studio, Svend Christiansen previously worked at Tocano Studiet, Hørve; there, he served as a chief sound engineer from 1970 to 1976, before leaving the company.

Sun Music Studio[]

Iyuno Denmark had it's origins dated back at 1976, where the Tony's members, Knud Thormod, Svend Christiansen, and Bjarne Bøgelund Jensen, ran Sun Music Studio (or Sun, Hørve); Christiansen serves as a leader and audio engineer of the studio. The company also published music under it's own label, Sun Music ApS (or simply Sun), from 1975 to 1981.[4]

The former facility was located in Vallekildevej 10 in the center of Hørve, after five years of operation, the studio closed down to make way for a new one, as they relocated and expanded to Copenhagen on February 1, 1981.[5]

Sun Studio[]

After the closure of Sun Music Studio in Hørve, Svend Christiansen would move to Copenhagen and continued operations as Sun Studio, Copenhagen (Sometimes referred to as Sun Studios) in February 1981.[6]

During the studio's first years in Copenhagen, it serves as a music recording studio specializing in the involvement of Danish-produced music productions; however, during the 80's and 90's, Sun Studio established itself as the leading dubbing & localization company for various foreign and international productions for film and TV, providing Danish-language dubbed content for major clients including Disney, Warner Bros. and Dreamworks.

Said studio also produces dubs in the Swedish and Polish languages, however the studio stopped production of the former in 1999, due to major clients relying on star talents in dubs, in response to this, the Swedish branch was established in the same year by Mikael Roupé, with the help of his friend, Magnus Veigas.[7]

On September 11, 2006, Sun Studio was acquired by SDI Media, and Christiansen left the company to form a new studio within the same location, STC Studios, founded a year after. In recent times, this studio nowadays is referred to as Farvemøllen, or The Color Mill Studio in English.[8]

Dubbing operations of STC Studios would be acquired by Swedish-based Eurotroll in the 2020s, and would later relocate at Viborggade 70C, 2100.

On April 1, 2021, SDI Media was acquired by Iyuno Media Group, merging SDI Media Denmark with the remaining studios previously acquired by Iyuno.

BTI Studios[]

Broadcast Text Danmark was the Danish branch of the Swedish subtitling and translation company Broadcast Text, settled in Copenhagen in 1999.

In 2004, the company was renamed Broadcast Text International A/S.

From 2007 onwards, its new subsidiary Eskimo Avenue began producing dubs in the main Nordic languages, including Danish.

In 2011, BTI built two dubbing and mixing studios in Denmark and presumably, Eskimo Avenue closed its operations between this year and 2014.[9][10]

In 2014, the company was renamed BTI Studios Denmark.

With the purchase of Dubberman, BTI Studios no longer produced dubs at its Danish headquarters, who started to focus only on translation and subtitling and closed between June and July 2017, while its dubbing projects started to be produced at Dubberman's facilities.[11]

On September 12, 2019, BTI Studios merged with Iyuno Media Group, following its purchase, which renamed the Danish branch of BTI to Iyuno Media Group Denmark.[12]

Dubberman[]

Dubberman, a Nordic dubbing company, was established in 2003 by CEO Anja Pajor, located in Farvergade, Copenhagen City. Dubberman also had branches in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.[13]

On October of 2015, BTI Studios acquired Dubberman, as well as it's facilities, as part of their expansion in the Nordic dubbing market.[14]

Iyuno Denmark[]

On September 12, 2019, Iyuno Media Group established itself in Denmark following the purchase of BTI Studios and its Danish subsidiary, which was renamed Iyuno Media Group Denmark.[15]

On April 1, 2021, SDI Media was acquired by Iyuno Media Group, which led to the merger of the two companies and, consequently, the same happened with the Danish subsidiaries of both, creating Iyuno-SDI Group, Denmark. Since October 26, 2022, the studio, just as the other global studios of the group, was renamed to Iyuno Denmark.[16]

The current Iyuno Denmark continues to specialize in Danish-language voice recording, dubbing, and music recording for various projects such as film, music, and TV, and it is one of the pioneering Danish recording studios located in Denmark.
