History[]

SDI Media[]

Sound Supply was a dubbing studio founded on June 8, 1990.[1]

High Art was a company founded on September 3, 1991 that became Media Watchers on October 25, 1994.[2]

SDI Media Group established itself in Hong Kong on October 22, 1998 through the purchase of a majority stake in the subtitling and dubbing company, Media Watchers Group.[3] The full acquisition of Media Watchers by SDI Media took place shortly afterwards, and on February 11, 2000, the company was renamed SDI Media Hong Kong.

On January 8, 2007, Sound Supply was acquired by SDI Media, which moved dubbing production to Sound Supply's headquarters in Chai Wan, while the main office and subtitling department were moved to North Point.[4]

Between March and April 2014, the North Point office was closed and its operations moved to Kwun Tong, Kowloon.

BTI Studios[]

Medi-Lan was a localization company established on July 16, 2003 in Kowloon, Hong Kong.[5]

On April 30, 2015, BTI Studios acquired Medi-Lan, being renamed BTI Studios Asia in April 2016.[6]

On October 27, 2018, BTI moved into its current facility, the only one still in operation.[7]

Iyuno[]

i-Yuno Media Group had a Hong Kong branch exclusively dedicated to translation and subtitling, but it was closed down at the end of 2010s.

On September 12, 2019, Iyuno Media Group acquired BTI Studios, re-establishing itself in Hong Kong now through its new subsidiary Iyuno Media Group Hong Kong.[8]

On April 1, 2021, SDI Media was acquired by Iyuno Media Group, which led to the merger of the two companies and, consequently, the same happened with the Hongkongese subsidiaries of both, creating Iyuno-SDI Group, Hong Kong. Sometime in 2022, the former SDI Media studio in Chai Wan was closed. Since October 26 the studio, just as the other global studios of the group, was renamed to Iyuno Hong Kong.[9]
