Iyuno Iberia (also referred to as Iyuno Spain; formerly known as Iyuno-SDI Group, Iberia, SDI Media Iberia, Soundub; CTV Galaxia in Santiago de Compostela; Soundtrack in Barcelona; Art&Co, Abaira and Estudios EXA in Madrid) is a Spanish recording studio part of Iyuno. It handles both European Spanish, Catalan and Galician-language dubbings.

History[]

Estudios EXA[]

Estudios EXA (or simply EXA) was a dubbing studio founded on April 25, 1951 in Madrid.[1]

On March 4, 1980, Adolfo Cotelo, the owner of the studio, was shot dead by Palestinian terrorists outside his apartment in Madrid after being mistaken for his Jewish neighbor.[2][3]

On 16 July 2010, Estudios EXA was officially bought by Catalana d'Iniciatives in order to turn its facilities into Soundub's Madrid headquarters.[4]

Soundtrack[]

Soundtrack - Estudios De Doblaje y Sonido (also known as Soundtrack - Bandas Sonoras Digitales or simply Soundtrack) was a Catalan dubbing studio founded on May 25, 1983 in Barcelona. Produced dubs in European Spanish and Catalan.[5][6]

CTV Galaxia[]

CTV Galaxia Comunicación (also known as CTV Galaxia or simply CTV) was a Galician dubbing studio founded in late 1985 in Santiago de Compostela.[7]

At the end of the 1980s it also had a branch in the city of Vigo, which especially dubbed animated series. CTV Vigo's productions were always mixed at CTV Santiago until the mid-1990s, when the studio was closed down.[8]

While CTV Vigo exclusively produced dubs in Galician, CTV Santiago also produced dubs in European Spanish.[9]

Abaira[]

Estudios Abaira (or simply Abaira) was a dubbing studio founded on July 26, 1989 in Madrid. It was a subsidiary of the Abaira Group, which also owned Matinha - Estúdios Som, a Portuguese dubbing studio founded by Abaira in 1992.[10][11]

Art&Co[]

Audioimagen Art&Co (also known as Ártico and simply Art&Co) was a post-production company founded on December 30, 1994 in Madrid.[12]

It was acquired by Soundub on June 27, 2009 and merged with it on August 7 of the same year.[13]

Soundub[]

Soundub, Sonorización y Doblajes (or simply Soundub) was created in July 5, 2006 through a build-up process led by the venture capital fund Catalana d'Iniciatives and which included Estudios Abaira in Madrid, its Portuguese subsidiary Matinha - Estúdios Som, CTV Galaxia in Santiago de Compostela and Soundtrack in Barcelona.[14]

On June 27, 2009, Catalana d'Iniciatives acquired the post-production company Art&Co and merged it with Soundub on August 7 of the same year.[13]

On 16 July 2010, Estudios EXA was officially bought by Catalana d'Iniciatives in order to turn its facilities into Soundub's Madrid headquarters.[4]

SDI Media[]

On 4 June 2013, the SDI Media group announced the purchase of Soundub and Matinha Estudios Som, renaming them SDI Media Iberia and PTSDI Media respectively.[15]

In addition to using its newly-acquired studios, SDI Media also began outsourcing dubs to external studios, such as Estudios Roma in Zaragoza and Mixer in Bilbao.

Iyuno[]

On April 1, 2021, SDI Media was acquired by Iyuno Media Group, which renamed the Spanish branch to Iyuno-SDI Group, Iberia. On October 26, 2022, the studio, just as the other global studios of the group, was renamed to Iyuno Iberia.[16]

On June 12, 2023, Iyuno opened a new studio in the city of Valencia.[17]
