Iyuno Latvia

Iyuno Latvia (formerly known as Iyuno-SDI Group, Latvia, SDI Media Latvia and Subtitling and Dubbing Latvia) was a Latvian recording studio part of Iyuno, that specialized in Latvian and Russian dubs and voice-overs. After Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, the studio began to produce Ukrainian dual voice-overs featuring immigrant actors, as well as producing Russian-language voice-overs for Cartoon Network RSEE and Cartoonito CEE (formerly Boomerang CEE).

History[]

The company was founded on March 5, 1999 as Subtitling and Dubbing Latvia. On December 28, 2001, the company was renamed SDI Media Latvia and moved to a new location, still in Riga. On May 8, 2007, the company moved again to new headquarters.[1]

On April 1, 2021, SDI Media was acquired by Iyuno Media Group, which resulted in the Latvian branch becoming known as Iyuno-SDI Group, Latvia or Iyuno-SDI Group, Riga. On October 26, 2022, the studio, just as the other global studios of the group, was renamed to Iyuno Latvia.[2]

As of March 13, 2023, the studio has been undergoing a liquidation process. The reasons for the liquidation have not been specified at this time. Personnel changes include Mihails Sergejevs, the former dubbing director, who left the studio in April 2023.[3] Igors Djacenko, also mentioned as part of the team, fully departed Iyuno in August 2023 but began working at Digi Media in March.[4] Sound engineer Rolands Majors also left Iyuno Latvia in April 2023.[5] Furthermore, the studio has since been removed from Iyuno's official website in July-August 2023.

In July 2023, three of former studio employees, production managers Mairita Jaunasane and Ieva Fedorenko and dubbing director/sound editor Gļebs Beļikovs, have created a dubbing and subtitling company Syncmer.[6]

In accordance with legal records, the company officially closed its headquarters on March 1, 2024, despite not producing dubs since the previous year.[1]
