Broadcast[]
LEGO Monkie Kid did not debut in its original English language. The show first premiered in China on May 30, 2020 with the pilot episode.
The show is notorious for having a sporadic release launch in other countries; before new episodes have their proper debut, episodes of the show from the Chinese Mandarin dub premiere on Chinese streaming services months prior. This is due to the show, and the overall theme being marketed and made for audiences in Mainland China. This has also confused people into thinking that the English version is dubbed over, when the show is actually produced in English first and then dubbed over in other languages.
The English version made it's official premiere and first television debut on TV3 in Malaysia on June 13, 2020. It later premiered on Channel 5 in Singapore on June 27.
In New Zealand, the show debuted on TVNZ OnDemand on February 1, 2021 and made its TV debut on May 29, 2021 on TVNZ 2.
In Australia, the show debuted on 9Go! on March 13, 2021, and season two premiered for the first time on May 1.
The show is internationally distributed in some regions on various Cartoon Network stations. It first started it's international broadcast during the end of 2022 in Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Southeast Asia and the Philippines.
In the United Kingdom and Ireland, the show debuted on CITV on May 9, 2022, and on Boomerang on February 4, 2023.
On a secondary audio track, the English version airs on TVB Jade in Hong Kong, and on Cartoon Network in South Korea.
Streaming[]
On YouTube, LEGO uploaded the special A Hero is Born and the first two episodes of season one for viewing in Singapore and Malaysia on February 4, 2021, with the rest of the first season uploaded on February 18.
LEGO officially announced on September 8, 2021, via press release that LEGO Monkie Kid was ready to debut on the Amazon Kids+ service in the United States, United Kingdom and Canada the next day, with Revenge of the Spider Queen premiering on October 1, season two premiering on October 28 with five episodes, and season two finishing on November 18 with the remaining five episodes.[2] The show was then made available for Amazon Prime Video members in those regions on September 30, 2021, with Revenge of the Spider Queen arriving on October 1, 2022, and season two on January 1, 2023.
Sometime during August 2024, the series was removed from streaming on Amazon Kids+ and Prime Video for unknown/undisclosed reasons. It is assumed that the exclusive Amazon Kids+ streaming rights for the show expired around this time.
Season three was announced to be coming to Kabillion in the United States as listed on their website and YouTube. The season became available starting on January 27, 2023 on their app for Roku, Apple TV and Fire TV. It would not release on their cable On Demand service on Fios, Spectrum, Optimum and Xfinity until February 7, when the first five episodes were added. Each remaining episode was added one by one each following week, until March 14.
Season three, the Embrace Your Destiny special and season four became available in the United States on the LEGO Channel and HappyKids streaming apps starting on March 3, 2023. However, this was by accident, and the official launch occurred one week later, on March 10, 2023. LEGO Channel is only available on Roku, Apple TV, Fire TV, among very few other platforms such as Vizio and Xfinity. This also followed with the premiere of the Season 4 special, The Emperor's Wrath, which released on June 19, 2023 at 6:00 PM Eastern Time on HappyKids' various TV applications before becoming available on the mobile app on June 24th.
The entire series was also added to Peacock (minus the 44 minute special episodes) in the United States on September 18, 2024.
The series was available to stream on HBO GO in Southeast Asia on March 20, 2023. It was also made available on HBO Max in European countries starting on April 1, 2023. Both shows are currently available on the rebranded Max service until May 31, 2025 in Southeast Asia and October 31, 2025 in Europe.

Censorship/Edits[]
The show is sometimes censored on HBO Max and when aired on international Cartoon Network feeds; via zooming in the picture to abstract offensive material, slowing down the footage or frame rate to avoid epilepsy, toning down the dialogue during dubbing, or outright shorting or cutting scenes for cultural reasons. The Arabic dub is known for doing this the most, and most European airings of the show share similar scene cuts as well.
The Cartoon Network CEE/RSEE/Poland cut does epilepsy prevention the least. For example, the first season's intro plays unaltered, where in the EMEA cut it would typically slow down during the part where Sandy smashes the ground.
In all airings across Europe, the Middle East and Turkey, any usage of the word "moron" in an episode is cut out.
Specific edits[]
Cartoon Network APAC and EMEA[]
- Every Season 3 episode from "On the Run" to "Amnesia Rules" use the original intro from previous seasons. This may be a video editing error as a result of using the same censored intro, and not a case of censorship.
Cartoon Network EMEA[]
- In "Sleep Bug":
- Every scene with the Sleep Bug advertisement ("Sleep Bug! Download it now from the Napp store!") is cut out of the episode.
- The shot where Monkey King also packs up for vacation was zoomed in to obstruct MK throwing his phone.
- In "Dumpling Destruction", Pigsy's dialogue containing the word moron ("Would you morons hurry up?") was cut out of the episode.
- In "Shadow Play", the ending scene where Mayor chokes on Macaque is quickly shortened, cutting out the impact of the scene from the episode.
- In "To Catch a Leaf":
- In CEE/RSEE countries and Poland, Pigsy's dialogue containing the word moron ("The kid ain't dying, you morons!") was shortened to "The kid ain't dying!"
- In every other EMEA country, the entire dialogue exchange was cut out.
- In "The First Ring", Demon Bull King's dialogue containing the word moron ("I can only assume the great sage has sent you in this moronic quest.") was cut out of the episode.
- In "Embrace Your Destiny", several bits of Red Son's dialogue containing the word moron or imbecile was cut out of the episode.
Cartoon Network CEE/RSEE and Poland[]
- In "Revenge of the Spider Queen:
- A small scene where a fly touches Red Son's street food and immediately burns into flames was zoomed in to obstruct it.
- Pigsy dialogue saying "Stop screwing around!" was cut out of the episode.
- The scene where Huntsman is dragged into the ground by a duck potion was shortened.
- In "72 Transformations", all gags relating to puking or barfing were cut out of the episode.
Trivia[]
- Sean Schemmel, the voice of Monkey King, is mostly known for voicing Son Goku in the English dubs of the Dragon Ball Z franchise. Because Dragon Ball was directly inspired by Journey to the West, and thus Goku is directly inspired by Sun Wukong, many people have noticed the connection and similarities between his two performances. Many of the initial show crew members also went on to say that the decision to cast Sean as Monkey King was an intentional choice.
- Many of the Cartoon Network EMEA-commissioned dubs feature voice actors of similar roles from other Cartoon Network show dubs (including Steven Universe). MK and Steven share the same voice actor in the Bulgarian and Swedish dubs, for example.
- This is the only LEGO cartoon series to not have a Brazilian Portuguese translation or dubbing. This is very likely because Monkie Kid LEGO sets are not sold in Brazil due to the expensive prices of the sets (unlike the rest of North America, Europe and Asia where the sets can be purchased online), and no distributor in Brazil has picked up the show to release it there.
