Littlest Pet Shop is an animated children's television series produced by DHX Media and Hasbro Studios for The Hub. The series, animated in Flash, is based on the Littlest Pet Shop and Blythe toyline by Hasbro. It centers on Blythe Baxter, a teen girl who, after moving into an apartment in a city, gains the ability to communicate with animals. Located below her apartment is the eponymous pet store where Blythe works and talks to a group of pets who regularly reside at a day care in the shop. Worried that a corrupt rival business might drive their shop out of business, it is up to Blythe to drive business into the store with her pet fashion designs.
The series premiered on The Hub on November 10, 2012 (which was renamed Discovery Family on October 13, 2014), and ended on June 4, 2016, totaling four seasons and 104 episodes. The completion of a single episode took roughly one year with several in production at once. Although it mostly received praise from reviewers for its writing and characters, it was criticized for its embedded marketing. Several crew members have additionally received accolades for their work on the show.
The series was part of the company's franchise reboot, where Hasbro released a new line of Littlest Pet Shop toys designed to more closely resemble the characters on the show. A mobile game and comic book adaptation were also made.
Broadcast
Littlest Pet Shop debuted on The Hub in the United States on November 10, 2012 at 11:00 EST.[2] The show aired its first 3 and a half seasons on the channel before it rebranded as Discovery Family on October 13, 2014.[3] Littlest Pet Shop stayed as one of the shows to stay on the channel when it rebranded, and aired the last 13 episodes of season 3 and the rest of season 4.
In Canada, Littlest Pet Shop aired on YTV. In the United Kingdom, the show aired on POP. In Singapore, the show premiered on Okto on August 31, 2016 at 10:00 SGT.[4] In Africa, Littlest Pet Shop premiered on Nicktoons on September 5, 2016 at 13:30 CAT.[5]
