LoliRock is an English-language French animated television series produced by Marathon Media and Zodiak Kids with the participation of France Télévisions and The Walt Disney Company France. It was created by Jean Louis-Vandestoc and written by Madellaine Paxson.

Iris’s earthling life is turned upside down when she learns that she’s actually an alien princess! When girl band LoliRock holds an audition for a third member, Iris tries out… and is suddenly surrounded by a dazzling light. Talia and Auriana have found their fellow princess, heir to the throne of Ephedia. Years ago, when this distant crystal planet fell under the spell of the evil Gramorr, the infant Iris was sent to earth for safekeeping. But now, the people of Ephedia need freeing. It’s a quest for which Iris is needed, and one that is done under the guise of being a pop band! It’s a battle against alien agents and crystal monsters… while appealing to crowds of adoring fans! In the second season, they are joined by two new princesses, Carissa and Lyna in their mission.

The show was initially cancelled after two seasons due to it being too expensive to produce. 6 years later, as of March 2023, a third season is currently in development.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Unlike how most of the versions keep the songs in English, the Brazilian Portuguese, French, Hebrew, Italian and the European Portuguese versions dub the songs. The Russian dub only dubs the opening theme, and other songs are translated with subtitles. The Serbian dub only dubs the opening theme and songs appearing in episode 1, while the Vietnamese dub dubs the BFF singing in episode 12. The Albanian and the Chinese Mandarin dubs subbed them.
  • The Brazilian Portuguese, Czech, Hungarian, Serbian, Turkish, Thai, Vietnamese (Netflix) versions only dubbed the first season. However, the second Vietnamese voice-over dubbed only season 2.
