Los Simpson: la película is the Latin American Spanish dub of The Simpsons Movie. It was released in theaters in Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, the Dominican Republic, Peru and Puerto Rico on July 26, 2007, followed by Colombia, Ecuador, Panama, Uruguay and Venezuela on July 27, 2007 and Mexico on August 2, 2007.

Controversy[]
Since its announcement, there has been much speculation regarding the dub of the film, since in 2004 the characters in the series underwent voice changes as a result of a disagreement between the dubbing actors and the studio. The production of the dub was threatened by personalities from the world of dubbing and fans of the franchise. Many fans of the series preferred the voices of the voice actors who worked for the first 15 seasons (Humberto Vélez as Homer, Nancy MacKenzie as Marge, Patricia Acevedo as Lisa, and Gabriel Chávez as Montgomery Burns, as well as Claudia Motta as Bart, who was the second voice of the character between episodes 189 and 335). However, the controversy was mainly fueled by the voice actors.
Different actors from those already mentioned spoke out in relation to the film and the possibility of returning to their characters, some even encouraged the initiative to boycott its projection. In addition to this, it has been commented that the company made a commitment to the National Association of Actors (ANDA) of Mexico that the first actors would do the dubbing work for the film, but this has not been confirmed. For his part, actor Gabriel Chávez made the following statement on the matter:
"The gentlemen have their word and we gentlemen keep it. They committed to the National Association of Actors (ANDA). But if the film arrives to be dubbed, they deceive us again and it is dubbed by "the transgenics", as I say, because they imitated our voices, there will be a boycott throughout Latin America not to see the film. There are more than 40 countries that support us. I have faith that sanity will prevail. We have to do it and if we don't dub the film, I'm not going to fight again and I'm going to close a chapter in my life".
Despite his insistence, this sector of the population was not heard by 20th Century Fox and the dubbing studio, who continued with the dubbing of their production with the new voices as it had been done since the aforementioned replacement. ANDA continued to denounce this corporate matter. On this, Chávez would affirm:
"If the film is not dubbed by us -there is time before its premiere-, then an international wheel will be generated in ANDA and we will be the original Simpsons".
On the contrary, Humberto Vélez declared to the newspaper El Universal that he did not expect to be called back, accepting that the cycle of him playing Homer had already ended, Vélez declared:
"They can't call us back, I'll give you an example, if a maid leaves the dirty dishes when she leaves and then she asks you for a job, I don't think you'll hire her, the same thing happens with The Simpsons".
Subsequently, Marina Huerta published a letter addressed to the followers of the series and various media where she exposed her points of view. She included pejorative words and attacked actress Claudia Motta and invited fans to watch the film dubbed into Spanish. Chávez would respond to this letter defending the work of Motta and other actors.
Lately, the boycott did not work and the film was a commercial success in many Latin American countries, including Mexico, where it earned more than ten million dollars.
Errors[]
- In some of the DVD releases, all of the songs and dialogues during the end credits are left undubbed.
- The Spider-Pig song was translated in two different ways, one sung by Homer during the film and one sung during the end credits, despite the fact that both versions share the same lyrics in the original English version.
- In one scene, Bart says "Fue una estupenda actividad para su padre y su hijo" ("That was a great activity for his father and son") According to the moment and circumstance in which he says it, this is grammatically incorrect. The correct sentence would be "Fue una estupenda actividad para un padre y su hijo" ("It was a great activity for a father and his son").
Notes[]
- The film is the only time that Homer with his second voice (Víctor Manuel Espinoza) uses the phrase "¡Anda la osa!", which was invented and put to the character by Homer's first voice (Humberto Vélez).
- In one scene, Clancy Wiggum yells at Bart "¡Alto en nombre de la Liga de la Decencia!" ("Stop in the name of the League of Decency!"). The League of Decency was a conservative Mexican organization that opposed "indecent" practices in society.
- In one scene, Krusty says "If you find a fattier sandwich, it's because you're in Mexico." In the dub, this was changed to "Si encuentran una hamburguesa más grasosa les daré un premio" ("If you find a fattier burger, I'll give you a prize").
- In English, Homer says in one scene "Now Homer Simpson's gonna show he's got cojones"; this was translated as as "Ahora Homero Simpson mostrará que tiene pantalones" ("Now Homer Simpson will show that he has pants").
