María Mercedes is a Mexican drama telenovela. Produced by Televisa.

The singer and actress Thalía, and the actor Arturo Peniche star as the show's romantic leads, while the actresses Laura Zapata, Nicky Mondellini y Diana Golden, plays the main antagonists.

Plot[]

María Mercedes aka Meche, is a humble girl who supports her family made up of her brothers Guillermo aka Memo, Rosario and little Andrés (called Andresito, which is something like "little Andrés"), as well as her father Manuel, an alcoholic man who works. little and spends all the money on his vice, which has him almost incapacitated, forcing María Mercedes to do countless jobs in order to support them. Her mother abandoned them when Maria was just a child. María Mercedes sells lottery tickets on street corners and manages to feed her family, even though they are ungrateful to her. Santiago del Olmo is a millionaire man who is dying, but he cannot do so in peace knowing that his aunt Malvina, a greedy woman, and her two children whom he believes are as bad as his mother, Jorge Luis and Digna, will stay behind with everything his fortune. Santiago meets María Mercedes when she sells him a lottery and eventually proposes marriage to leave his aunt Malvina without the fortune she so desires. Santiago dies, leaving María Mercedes a widow and universal heir to her fortune and half of the family mansion, the other half of the mansion is inherited by Malvina and her children with an income of 10% per month. Leaving a clause that, if any of the parties renounces living in the house, they will lose the right to live off the Del Olmo fortune, thus forcing Malvina to continue living tormented now with María Mercedes, whom she hates to death, and which he has derogatorily nicknamed "Damn Wallet".
