The theme song to Miffy and Friends plays at the start of every episode. It was written and composed by J.G. Bos, arranged by Tom van Beers, and performed by Vera Westera in both English and Dutch. The English lyrics were written by Karin Hollreiser, who also narrated the original English version of the show.
While a shortened version of the song plays over the end credits of every episode, the 4 half-hour "Family Celebrations" specials use an alternate extended version with different lyrics, serving as a "goodbye song". The 4 "Explore the World with Miffy" specials also use a version of the theme song with unique lyrics, in this case as the opening theme.
An extended version of the theme song also exists. In Dutch, it was titled "Nijntje en Vriendjes", and was released on June 21, 2003, on the album "Zing mee met Nijntje en haar vriendjes". The album was later rereleased digitally as "Zing Mee Met Nijntje", with the song’s title changed to "Nijntje, Lief Konijntje". In English, it was titled "Miffy and Friends", and was released in Australia on the 2004 album of the same name, which was later rereleased digitally as "Miffy and Friends (Original Soundtrack)" on December 2019. An alternate version with differing lyrics was also included on an American promotional sampler CD, produced by Sony Wonder in 2004. A Japanese dub also exists, titled "ミッフィーと おともだち (主題歌)". It was released on December 26, 2003, on the album "ミッフィーとおともだち", which also included the digitally-released English dub.
