Monster High: Ghouls Rule! is a 2012 American CGI-animated adventure fantasy television film special produced by Mattel Entertainment, with outsourced animation services provided by Nerd Corps Entertainment in Canada. It was written by Ted Zizik and Mike Montesano, produced by Tina Chow and Ira Singerman, and directed by Mike Fefferly and Steve Sacks. The film revolves around the centuries old conflict between humans (nicknamed "normies") and monsters, and as Halloween approaches, the students of Monster High have been warned to stay hidden and avoid disputes at all costs. However, when Frankie Stein and her friends discover that Halloween used to be a celebration between monsters and humans, they must learn to overcome the rising prejudices and bring back the holiday's true meaning.
This is the fourth CGI-animated Monster High film, and the sixth film in the Generation 1 continuity and the franchise overall.

Censorship[]
In the original version of the film's release, when Jackson Jekyll tries to come up with an excuse to prevent him from listening to music and thus transforming into Holt Hyde around the humans, he says he has a condition called "spazzingtons". Similarly, Lilith refers to Jackson as "your little spazzy friend sure hates loud music." However, these lines were later changed to "jeklingtons" and "your little kooky friend" respectively. This is because "spazz" is an offensive, ableist word in the United Kingdom.
