My Little Pony – Freundschaft ist Magie is the German dub of My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. Produced by SDI Media in Berlin, the dub first premiered on Nickelodeon in Germany on September 19, 2011, as part of the Nick Jr. block. Seasons 2 and 3 aired regularly on the channel, leaving the block. The season three finale aired on December 3, 2013. After December 16, the show stopped airing on the channel. The rights would soon be transferred to Disney Channel, who premiered the show on November 22, 2014. Season four would premiere on the channel starting April 4, 2015. The dub completed its run on December 7, 2019.[2] Reruns would still occur on Disney Channel until March 26, 2021.
From May 3, 2013 til the closure of the channel, the show aired regularly on Junior. In Switzerland, the show briefly ran for a week on TV24, from March 5 to March 10, 2016, with season one airing on the channel. The dub is currently available on Netflix and Amazon Prime Video[3]. Various merchandise was released, including many DVDs distributed by EuroVideo Medien GmbH, and audio drama albums in CD and MP3 formats, released by Edel Germany GmbH[4].
On September 17, 2020, the German My Little Pony YouTube account has started uploading full episodes, beginning with "The Return of Harmony, part 1"[5].

Notes[]
- In the initial broadcast of "The Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000", the opening theme from the Dutch dub was accidentally used, most likely due to a regional mastering error, as Nickelodeon Germany and Nickelodeon Netherlands have the same management. This was fixed in reruns.
- As with other dubs of the show, the episode "The Ticket Master" was issued and sold on DVDs in 2011, although it has not been confirmed whether this contained a different German dub than the finalized episode; The opening remains the same on the DVDs.[7][8]
- As with much of Europe, because the tie-in toys for the episode had already been released, the season 2 finale "A Canterlot Wedding" aired as the season premiere in Germany on 5 November 2012, most likely to promote the tie-in toys in time for Christmas. This happened again the following year, as due to the tie-in toys for Equestria Girls having already been released in the summer of 2013, Nickelodeon skipped ahead to airing Equestria Girls on 3 August 2013 and did not premiere season 3 until 4 November of the same year - this leads to a plot hole wherein Twilight is suddenly an alicorn in the film with no events preceding it, then returns to being a unicorn in season 3.
- Spike's voice actor was recast in seasons 5 and 6, as Hannes Maurer had moved away from Germany.
- The localization was redone when seasons 1 and 2 were released on home video as part of a HD remaster, with all of the credits becoming translated, as only the show logo, episode names, and S2E24's silent film cards were localized on TV. The font in season 1 also changed from Woodrow (the original font) to Caslon (the font most visually localized dubs of the show use). From season 5 onwards, all text is localized on television as well.
Translations[]
- The Everfree Forest is called "Wald der ewigen Magie" (Forest of the eternal magic) in the first two seasons, but left untranslated as Everfree Forest in later episodes.
- Cutie marks are called "Schönheitsflecken" (beauty marks).
- Mule is often translated to "Esel" (donkey) instead of "Maultier", the actual German word for a mule.
