Ni Hao, Kai-Lan is the British English dub of the show of the same name. It premiered on Nick Jr. in the United Kingdom on September 7, 2009, at 07:35 BST, with additional airings at 16:30. The dub would end its original run on February 25, 2010, being removed from the channel's lineup in September.

However, the series would return to the schedule during December 2011, though only at 00:55 BST. It would cease airing for good on January 5, 2015.

As with other British English dubs of preschool shows, this dub was produced in an effort to not confuse children on pronunciation.

Notes[]

  • Various changes are made to English terminology in this dub:
    • The word "mad" is replaced with the British equivalent "cross".
    • The episode "Safari Pals" is renamed to "Safari Friends".
    • This dub had a few dialogue changes, such as in the episode "Kai-Lan's Campout" where Kai-Lan says "Ooh! I have an idea!" Unlike the original dialogue "Hey! I have an idea!".
    • Rintoo's catchphrase, "Awesome!" is usually omitted, being replaced by words like "super" or "amazing".
    • In "The Snowiest Ride", "sled" is changed to "sledge".
    • The Song "What Can We Try?" is heavily altered, now being titled "What Shall We Do?".
  • The Nick Jr. UK website states that Kai-Lan is a Chinese-British preschooler, despite her being Chinese-American in the original version of the show.[1]
  • According to the website for The Little Music Company, the show's 2nd season was also dubbed.[2] However, it is likely that this is referring to the latter half of season 1, as season 2 was never aired in the UK.
  • Three Flash games based on the show (Kai-Lan's Puddle Hop!, DJ Hoho's Dance Party, & Rintoo's Dragon Boat Rowing Race) were redubbed into British English, being available to play on the Nick Jr. UK website.
