Niko 2: Little Brother, Big Trouble (also known as Little Brother, Big Trouble: A Christmas Adventure in the Americas, and The Magic Reindeer: A Christmas Adventure / The Flight Before Christmas in the United Kingdom) is a 2012 Finnish-Danish-German-Irish 3D computer-animated Christmas film directed by Kari Juusonen, co-directed by Jorgen Lerdam, Produced by Anima Vitae and Cinemaker, co-produced by Ulysses Filmproducktion, A-Film, and Tidal Films. It is distributed by Nordisk Film in Nordic territories and Global Screen worldwide, with Lionsgate (which released the film as direct-to-DVD) holding North America rights.
Like it's predecessor, it is one of the most expensive films from Finland and is the first Finnish animated film to be produced in stereoscopic 3-D.
Niko, a young reindeer boy, secretly wishes his mom and dad would get back together so they could be a real family – something they have never been as dad left to be a famous pilot in Santa’s Flying Forces. One day mom brings the news on Niko; she’s met a guy, an ordinary reindeer, Lenni, and he and his little son Jonni will be moving in. Niko´s world is shaken: he will no longer be the only child. Furthermore, when called upon to look after this darn cute little step brother, Jonni goes missing and Niko must embark on a dangerous journey to save him.
This film is a sequel to Niko & the Way to the Stars and it was written by Hannu Tuomainen and Marteinn Thorisson, and produced by Antti Haikala, Petteri Pasanen, and Hannu Tuomainen. A second sequel was released on October 11, 2024 in Finland.
