Norbert Gastell was an Argentinian-born German actor and voice actor.
Biography[]
Norbert Gastell was born in Buenos Aires in 1929 to German parents. His father, the journalist Otto Hellmuth Georg Max Gastel (1902-1994) from Freiburg im Breisgau, had emigrated with his wife from Munich to Argentina in 1925 to join his brother Harald. In Argentina, he was an editor at La Plata, the largest German newspaper in South America at the time. In 1938, the family returned to Munich due to his father's severe asthma, where Otto Gastel worked for the Süddeutsche Zeitung. He later worked for newspapers in Rosenheim and Bad Aibling.
Norbert Gastell attended the Wittelsbacher-Gymnasium in Munich, but left before his Abitur to attend Ruth von Zerboni's drama school. He received his first stage engagement in Tübingen in 1950. From 1956, Munich became his artistic home; he played at the Volkstheater im Sonnenhof (People's Theatre) and the Bayerisches Staatsschauspiel (Bavarian State Theatre) as well as at the Kleine Komödie (Little Comedy).
He began dubbing in 1956.
Norbert Gastell married Inge Fürst in 1956. They have two daughters from this marriage. From 1989, he was married to his fellow actress Karin Heym. Gastell lived with his wife in Munich-Ramersdorf, where he died on 26 November 2015 at the age of 86.
