Oobi (titled Oobi! during production) is an American children's TV series created by Josh Selig and produced by Little Airplane Productions for Noggin.[1]
In 2012, a Persian-language spin-off titled دس دسی صداش می آد premiered on the IRIB TV2 network in Iran. It featured a variety of new characters and locations.
Broadcast and streaming history[]
Oobi debuted on Noggin in the United States in 2000. The first season was a series of two-minute shorts that aired during commercial breaks on Noggin. The show's second season premiered on April 7, 2003[5] on both Noggin and Nickelodeon. It continued to air for three seasons: the first season of shorts and two long-form seasons. It aired its last episode on February 11, 2005.[6] The show also aired on AFN Family.[7]
In Canada, Oobi premiered on TVO on September 1, 2003 at 08:25 EST.[8] The channel aired only the first season of shorts, and it last aired the show on September 2, 2006.[9]
ABC Kids broadcast the show in Australia. It only broadcast the second season, which premiered on February 8, 2005 at 08:15 AEDT with the episode "Uma Bathroom!".[10] The final episode to premiere in Australia was "Playdate!" on March 15, 2005. ABC continued to air reruns of the series until February 2, 2007.
In China, Oobi debuted on Shanghai Oriental TV’s former programming block HaHa Nick on May 1, 2005 at 09:00 CST.[11][12] It aired every weekday until August 5, 2005.[13]
In Israel, the show was aired on two networks: BabyTV[14] and Nickelodeon Israel.[15] BabyTV aired the show from 2007 to 2010. Nickelodeon Israel carried it from 2010 to 2013; for a brief period in 2010, it was seen on both networks.
In France and Wallonia, Oobi aired on Nickelodeon Junior from 2007 until 2010.[16] It was occasionally simulcast on Nickelodeon France for special events.
Oobi was one of Nickelodeon Pakistan's flagship programs since 2009. It normally aired once per day, at 05:30 GMT on weekdays and at 06:00 GMT on weekends.[17] Like several other shows on the channel, it was originally available with Urdu subtitles, but was only played in English. It continued to appear prominently in the channel's on-air continuity and promos until the channel's closure in October 2024.
In Asia, Oobi aired on Nickelodeon Southeast Asia.[18]
From 2015 to 2020 in the United States, the series was available for streaming on two services: the Noggin streaming app and Amazon Prime Video. Both carried the entirety of seasons two and three.[19] On January 12, 2021, Oobi was added to Paramount+.
