Pecola is a Japanese-Canadian CGI anime television series based on the characters created by Naomi Iwata and the second animated adaptation based on those characters, following the 1998 short series. Prior to 1998, the characters first appeared on PC games known as Paper Pecola that were published by NEC Interchannel for a total of three volumes, released from 1996 to 1998, but the 1998 shorts caused the character's popularity to skyrocket, which led to more merchandise being made for the character that later caused Pecola to be turned into a full animated series. The series was produced by Milky Cartoon, Nelvana and Yomiko Advertising and debuted on Teletoon in Canada on September 3, 2001 and ended on September 18, 2002 for 2 seasons with a total of 26 episodes.
