Pinky and the Brain

Pinky and the Brain is an American animated TV show and a spin-off of Animaniacs. The series premiered on The WB on September 9, 1995. The first season was scheduled in a prime time slot from September 10, 1995, through July 21, 1996, as part of the new WB network lineup, with episodes also being repeated within the Saturday morning cartoon block.

In 1998, the overall structure within the WB Network changed, including the placement of Jamie Kellner as head of the Kids WB! programming. Along with this came pressure on the writers of the series to back off on the idea of world domination and to include more characters on the series.

With increased pressure from the WB network, the series eventually was retooled into into Pinky, Elmyra & the Brain, which premiered on September 19, 1998.

In the episode “Project B.R.A.I.N.” it turns out that their names are actually “Subject B” and “Subject A” the names Pinky and The Brain are just nicknames they chose for themselves.
