Pokémon the Series: Ruby and Sapphire is the English dub of ポケットモンスター アドバンスジェネレーション. It first premiered on the Kids' WB block as a sneak peek on March 15, 2003, before settling into a full premiere on the block on November 1, the same year.
Beginning season 9, the cast had a major refresh, replacing almost every character, save a couple. The season aired on Cartoon Network, where it became its home for around 11 years.
It had also aired on a few channels in the UK, on CITV, Sky1, GMTV, Cartoon Network Too, and Toonami. It has also aired in the Philippines, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and India.

Cast change[]
4Kids' contract with Pokémon USA expired in early 2006. Because of the Pokémon franchise's waning popularity in the United States, the international Pokémon distributor, Pokémon USA, began looking for ways to cut costs on production of the English adaptation of the series, and decided to find a new partnering company who could produce the English adaptation for less money. 4Kids was outbid by TAJ Productions, which had earlier assisted 4Kids in their production of the English-language version of the series.
Pokémon USA and TAJ refused to allow the 4Kids voice cast to return, and as a result, the entire voice cast was replaced. To this day, not even the voice actors know exactly why they were replaced. Only two of the original voice actors, James Carter Cathcart and Kayzie Rogers, stayed with the dub, as they were the only actors who agreed to terminate their contract with 4Kids. Rodger Parsons would also return as the Narrator. The recasting continues to be a divisive topic with fans of the series.
