The Dubbing Database

Sünger Bob Kare Şort (also known as SüngerBob KarePantolon[1]) is one of two Turkish dubs of SpongeBob SquarePants. It has previously aired on CNBC-e, Nickelodeon and TRT 1. This dub is incomplete, as Season 8 was not fully dubbed.

Broadcast history[]

Nickelodeon[]

Sünger Bob Kare Şort first aired in English on Nickelodeon in 2002. Turkish-dubbed episodes began airing when the channel relaunched in 2005. MCD's Nickelodeon broadcasts ended on August 31, 2011, marking the dub's final broadcast on Nickelodeon.

CNBC-e[]

Sünger Bob Kare Şort played on CNBC-e from September 20, 2003 until September 2012. The first 7 seasons were dubbed. Season 8 was aired on the channel as well, but only the first half of this season was dubbed. In September 2012, older episodes of the series began to be broadcast with the Nickelodeon dub as well.

Notes[]

  • From season 1-6 (the only exception being "Nature Pants"), the theme song is undubbed, and only the segment where Painty asks the kids if they are ready is dubbed. But starting in season 6, the theme song was fully dubbed, and the fully dubbed theme song used in season 6 would go on to be used in seasons 7-8 and older episodes, beginning in 2011.
  • The Pat Morita dedication card at the end of "Karate Island" is left intact in this dub.
  • In the episode "Band Geeks", the scenes where Mr. Krabs and Larry read their posters are cut.
  • The episode "Band Geeks has several errors:
    • The scene when Squidward is suppose to say, "Wait, wait. I know tensions are high...," he cannot be heard saying that line in this dub. Instead he is left mute at that part and all that can be heard are the crowd voices overlapping.
    • The title card was mistakenly left in English undubbed.
  • In some episodes of season 5, the theme song has two instrumentals instead of one.
  • In seasons 1-5, with the exception of "Ripped Pants" (only partially), "F.U.N Song", "Texas", "Hey All You People", "When Worlds Collide" (some of the caveman's parts are undubbed), "I Wish I Could Fly", "He's Flying" (only partially), "All You Need Is Friends to Fly", "Twinkle, Twinkle, Patrick Star", "Fueling the Bus" (only partially), Plankton's song from "Atlantis SquarePantis", and "Goodbye Atlantis" (the first part of that song is undubbed and subtitled), all songs are undubbed and left in English with subtitles (except for "The Very First Christmas", "So Long, Bikini Bottom" and "Back in Encino", which are left without subtitles), with the exception of any dialogue. Starting with season 6, the songs would start to be dubbed.

Subtitled version[]

From November 8, 2004 to 2007, Sünger Bob Kare Şort (at least season 1) was aired subtitled, following English airings on MTV Europe gaining much popularity in Turkey the same year. The only archive of this sub is from September 18, 2007, where a clip of the episode "Jellyfish Jam," subtitled, was posted[2].
