SIC is the first private network to be operated in Portugal, also known to be the third terrestial television station in the country. The network was made by European Portuguese-language television network and media company of the same name (Acronym of the full name Sociedade Independente de Communição, known in English-translation as Independent Communication Society), most known for running several television channels (SIC K, SIC Radical, SIC Gold, SIC Caras, SIC Mulher, SIC Internacional, SIC Noticias). The channel was registered in 1987 and originally launched in October 6, 1992.
