BobSfungjeri Pantallon-Katrori is the Albanian dub of SpongeBob SquarePants that is airing on Çufo. It debuted on Top Channel in Albania under the original title of the series, airing for seven seasons from July 14, 2007 to May 11, 2013; it ceased re-runs soon after. It was produced by the channel, although it also aired briefly on Bang Bang as SfungjerBob PantallonKatrori from 2012 to sometime in 2013.

The dub continued with season 8 on June 13, 2016, as it premiered on Çufo (temporarily with the title of BobSfungjeri Pantallona-katrori), with a new dub that was produced by "AA" Film Company. Since the season 11 premiere ended on June 19, 2019, the dub has reaired several times, with no word of a future continuation.

History[]

SpongeBob SquarePants (pronounced as SponxhBob SkuerPents) first premiered on Top Channel on July 14, 2007, and aired on weekends. This was until February 14, 2009 when it was moved to airing every day while they reaired season 1–5. This would be reversed later in the year.

Starting with the premiere of season 7 on January 16, 2011, episodes started airing every Sunday only. Sometime during season 7's initial airing, its timeslot was replaced with Dragon Flyz. The show came back on September 11, 2011, where season 6 began reairing. The first premiere again would be on December 4, 2011, when Greasy Buffoons premiered, and the show continued to air episodes again until February 12, 2012. It would come back for the final time on December 8, 2012. On May 11, 2013, season 7 concluded.

On June 29, 2013, episodes started airing biweekly. On September 29, 2013, episodes starting airing triweekly. On November 10, 2013, the show aired for the final time in 7 years and was officially replaced after shows had cycled through the timeslot by The Nimbols on December 29, 2013.

The dub was concurrently reairing on Bang Bang, this time titled SfungjerBob PantallonKatrori. It started airing sometime in early 2012, about 5 years after it initially started on Top Channel. After a hiatus, the show came back on June 19, 2012, and season 5 was aired until July 8, 2012. There would be another hiatus until November 10, 2012. The show stopped airing on the channel some time around late 2013.

After a seven year hiatus, the dub returned to Top Channel on August 2, 2020.[1][2][3] It aired daily until September 6, 2020, when it was moved to airing on weekends. From January 9, 2021 until March 27, 2021, it was moved to just airing on Saturdays. On April 4, 2021, the show aired again on a Sunday and the following week it only aired on Saturday before stopping altogether. The next Sunday and the following week the Top Channel dub of Avatar: The Last Airbender aired instead. It is unknown if the remaining episodes of season 7 were dubbed.

Eventually, a renewal of the dub, beginning from season 8 had premiered on Çufo on June 13, 2016. It is currently up to season 11.

Notes[]

SpongeBob SquarePants - logo (Albanian, Prince Kids)
  • Two Albanian subtitled versions of the show exist. One of them airs on Comedy Central Extra, and is available to stream on Amazon Prime (only season 1). Another, simply titled "Bob Sfungjeri" airs on Prince Kids.

Top Channel (2007-2013)[]

  • This dub would become infamous in the lost media community entirely due to it being lost for a long time. The Lost Media Wiki would ban most pages on lost dubs from being made for being too excessive and unnecessary (with possible exceptions being given to English dubs), and most of the blame was pinned on the Albanian SpongeBob page for starting the trend.
  • Unlike the majority of Albanian dubs, this dub was legally produced and was authorized by Viacom.
  • The theme song was only localized in the Bang Bang version, because some changes were made to the dub.
  • The Top Channel version didn't have the pirate part and the theme song was in English.
  • Nickelodeon and United Plankton Pictures, Inc. were cut at the end of the credits of Top Channel airings.
  • SpongeBob's laugh and other similar sounds aren't consistent. Sometimes they're performed by Albanian actors, sometimes they're left in English.
  • In the first three seasons, songs would either get cut or be subtitled. Starting with season 4, songs like "Feeling of Greed" from "Selling Out" or the songs from "Dunces and Dragons" are dubbed, although very poorly adapted and sang. Starting with "Together" from season 5, songs would be either dubbed by a separate actor or cut.
  • The dub has extreme cast inconsistency.
    • Mr. Krabs is the only main character to have a consistent voice throughout every episode, whereas the other main characters (SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, Plankton, Sandy) get replaced by another actor (speaking or singing) in an episode or more. In fact, Mr. Krabs is one of the two characters to have his actor reprise his role in the "AA" Film Company dub, with the other being Plankton.
    • The one and only instance Mr. Krabs was voiced by a different actor, Vasjan Lami, is the first movie.
  • There are several translation mistakes. They are caused either by lack of context, as the translation is only based off the script and not the video, or due to being translated literally. However the translation is overall more correct and consistent than in the revival dub.

Cuts[]

Various scenes of a few seconds were cut from several episodes for unknown reasons. For example:

  • In "Pickles", the scene with customers complaining was removed.
  • In "Sandy, SpongeBob and the Worm" the scene when Patrick says "We should take Bikini Bottom and push it somewhere else" is also removed.
  • In the episode "The Algae's Always Greener", the scene where Plankton says "What it's just an ordinary Krabby--OH MY GOODNESS! SQUIDWARD!" is removed as well.

Missing episodes[]

  • In the 2020-2021 airing, "Sailor Mouth" was replaced with a reair of the episode "Squid's Day Off". The episode was likely not dubbed due to its theme.
  • Episodes S6E20-S6E21 didn't air either. It is unknown if these episodes were dubbed.
    • The same happened with episodes S7E14-S7E16 and S7E20-S7E26. Before those could air, the show was replaced with Avatar. However, the 2013 schedules suggest those episodes may have been dubbed.

"AA" Film Company (2016-2019)[]

  • The title cards are localized, but the text is usually subtitled, or left alone if it is not as significant. Rarely, other texts will be localized.
  • The end credits for every season 8 episode are the same as the ones used for the first episode of that season.
    • As the credits got cut out early in season 8, after United Plankton Pictures, Inc. shows up, Nickelodeon is not credited in that season.
      • Nickelodeon also is not credited in the show title card, unlike the original and other localizations.
  • The theme song in season 8 is a cropped version of the Rap Battle from The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, which was dubbed.
    • The footage used for the season 8 intro is taken from the textless version. However, the SpongeBob on ships bit is localized when the ships combine, similar to the original.
    • Near the end of the intro, the parts where the "kids" sing BobSfungjeri Pantallona-katrori for the first and second time in the Rap Battle scene are added in, therefore misusing the parts where Bubbles says "Stop it" and the Captain says "Ready?" three times. It then uses the last time the kids chant SpongeBob's name, (where Bubbles says "That's enough.") until Bubbles yells "Silence!" at them, thus ending the theme song.
    • The intro also uses the original ocean noise for the end and beginning of the intro (which is cut off when the Captain talks). While SpongeBob doesn't play his flute in this version, instead of showing the localized title card and the "Created by Stephen Hillenburg" base, the flute noise is slightly heard before the ocean noise plays.
    • "It's a SpongeBob Christmas!" uses the regular intro, although the Captain with the wreath is still used.
  • While most of the songs were dubbed, some somes, like "Don't Be a Jerk" and "The Scare Song" are left undubbed with subtitles.
  • Just like the Top Channel dub, seasons 8-9 were legally produced, with the exception of seasons 10-11. Unlike previous seasons those didn't use textless title card backgrounds but rather content-aware fill. Also the background music is significantly weaker and some effects are missing entirely.
  • The word "idiot" has been continuously censored and replaced with other words such as "hutaq", "i marrë" etc.

Errors[]

  • In "The Hot Shot," Sandals' "What'd I do?" is not dubbed.
  • In season 9, the logo is spelled "BobSfungjeri Pantollon-Katrori, instead of BobSfungjeri Pantallona-Katrori.
  • In the season 9 intro, SpongeBob's head is overlapped by the text of the logo.
  • The HD intro was not used until season 10 (although the episodes were aired past 2016).
  • In season 10, in the credits scene, the dubbing studio's name is misspelled as ""AA" Film Kompany".
