Shiva Baby is a 2020 American independent comedy film directed by Emma Seligman, in her directorial debut and adapted from the 2018 short film of the same name. The film follows Danielle, a directionless young bisexual Jewish woman who attends a shiva with her parents, Joel and Debbie. Other attendees include her successful ex-girlfriend Maya, and her sugar daddy Max with his wife Kim and their screaming baby. The film received positive reviews from critics, who praised the cast performances, musical score, representation of bisexuality and Jewish culture.

It premiered online at the 2020 South by Southwest film festival, while its first public screenings were at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival on September 10, 2020, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It would premiere on various international film festivals throughout the year 2020. It was released in theaters on April 2, 2021. in the United States It was later released on HBO Max on July 7, 2021. A television pilot based on the premise of the film is currently in development at HBO.[1]
